Location: Husainabad clock tower is located on the banks of Gomti River and adjacent to the Rumi Darwaza in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Description: Clock towers are iconic buildings which are famous all over the world due to their height, shape and structure. Ghanta Ghar is another name given to clock towers in India. The Husainabad Tower is a sixty seven meter high clock tower and it is believed that this tower was erected by Nawab Nasir-Ud-Din Haider and designed by Roskell Payne in the year 1887. It was build to mark the arrival of Sir George Couper, who was the Lieutenant Governor of Awadh during the 19 th century. This clock tower is a fascinating piece of architecture which reflects the Victorian-Gothic architectural design of European art. The material used to make the parts of clock was gunmetal and the walls are made from redbrick and stone.
